Eva Olsson

Eva Olsson, the survivor of the Holocaust, was in are school yesterday (October 26th). When I got to school yesterday morning are teacher told us that we were going to have a 45 minuet long presentation in the chapel. My very first thoughts were that it was going to be just another one of those long boring presentations. But it turned out to be allot more then that!! This 84 year old women had gone through so much in her life time that it was unbelievable. I don't no how she had the courage to stand up in front of us and talk about some of the worst things she'd ever have to face. You could see in her eyes that her life was different to other people's. I must admit, I wasn't listening as much as I probably should have, but some of the things she said defiantly caught my eye. Here are some of the things that really touched me.

Hate, just a single word. A word that can mean so much more to some people then you would of thought. I defiantly agree with Eva when she told us about that word and how we should never use it. If the word hate comes across you, think about what you would think or say. Talking about the word hate reminded me of what she talked to us about bulling. Being a bully is not cool, or fun. If you have ever experienced it you would know. Wouldn't you think the world would be a happier place if bullying didn't ever happen. Eva told us that the bullies in her case were the solders (Germans). The things that they did to her and other people are very different then the average school bully, but it is the same concept.

Over all Eva Olssons presentation was really good. She has changed my mind in lots of different ways. And she has made me think more about using the word hate and about how bullying can affect different people in different ways. That was my over all thought of Eva Olsson.

My trip to Novel!!!

Yesterday the whole of middle school had a team building day and a place called Novel. Each grade was separated in to different groups. I am now in grade 7, and I think that the activities we did were challenging. Something my team and I did well was when we had to get a tire of a really tall wooden pole. First are strategy was to make a pyramid. But that didn't really work because all the people at the bottom of the pyramid collapsed. Are next strategy was for all the lightest people to stand on Jake's shoulders to try and get the tire off.... and that didn't really work either. So then Jenny stood on the tire and we all pushed the tire up the pole, it was very hard. Yeah well, that didn't work either. We might of not succeeded this challenge, but are team work was really good. That something we did really well at.

Something I think that are team had trouble with was the wizards thing, I can't remember what it was called. It was where we had to get to a different location from where we were. We had to get around from tree to tree using just wires and a bit of rope. The reason I didn't think that are team did very well was because we weren't very good at taking turns with who got the rope. I think that other people should have been more thought full of other people. But I defiantly think we over came that issue. By the end of this activity we had defiantly completed it well.

My over all view of the day was that it was really fun! The drum circle was at the end of this trip, and the thing that made it most fun and exciting was the atmosphere in the room. The man who was leading it was very enthusiastic which made more interesting. I did defiantly enjoy Novel this year more then last. I think that the activities we got to do were really fun and more challenging then last year. That is my over all view of are trip to Novel!!

does clothing shape who you are???

I think that somtimes clothing reflects who you are and other times not. I think this is why some schools have a uniform. If some ones clothing is better then some one elses, it does not mean that the are a better person or a nicer person. Its like with uggs, when girls come to school, people might think they are weird because they are not wearing real uggs.

But say if some one comes to school with horses all over there shirt, they obviously love horses. If they come to school in all balck... then you would probaly think as them as a goth. That might be true or it might not be true.
You will never know if you don't talk to that person, mabye you dont talk to them because of how they look.
That is why i think that somethimes clothing shapes who you are and other times not.
